FAQ: HydraDock — 11 Port USB-C Dock For Apple MacBook
For the most up-to-date information about the status of our project, check our project updates on Kickstarter!

Will my Apple Thunderbolt display work with the HydraDock?

No. The PCIe data signal required for Thunderbolt is not present from the MacBook’s USB-C port. So, we cannot drive a Thunderbolt display — only HDMI or Mini DisplayPort. Last updated: Wed, Apr 15 2015 11:28 pm EDT

Can the HydraDock drive both display types at the same time?

No. The USB-C port on the MacBook only outputs a DisplayPort v1.2 signal, which can only support one of the two connectors at a time — either HDMI to 1920x1080, or Mini DisplayPort to 2560x1440 — but not both together. Last updated: Wed, Apr 15 2015 11:28 pm EDT

Will the HydraDock work with other USB-C computers?

Sure! USB-C is an industry standard, and will be rapidly appearing on pretty much all new PC products later this year. HydraDock can be powered by any USB-C computer power supply, and can connect to any computer with a USB-C port — like the new Google ChromeBook Pixel, for instance. Can the HydraDock be powered by the MacBook?

No. The HydraDock draws no power from the MacBook, and requires a power supply plugged into its USB-C female jack on the right end of the product. As any notebook computer (including the MacBook and the ChromeBook Pixel for now) include a USB-C power supply, the HydraDock repurposes that power supply for its own use and that of the computer. Will there be a HydraDock AC-DC power adapter for computers without a USB-C power supply?

Yes. This fall we have a battery pack and an AC-DC power adapter coming. Last updated: Fri, Apr 17 2015 5:01 pm EDT

What are the supported video resolutions?

The HydraDock supports one of the following at a time — not both: one Mini DisplayPort connection at up to 2560x1440 pixels, 60Hz refresh rate; or, one HDMI connection at up to 1920x1080 pixels, 60Hz refresh rate. Last updated: Sat, Apr 25 2015 7:14 pm EDT

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
